We remain on the planet Earth in the year 32 A.C. Earth is more or less a large wasteland with random barrier cities scattered throughout the planet. Most of the barrier cities are on the continent Africa. Animal life is sparse. Just about the only animals that are left are the ones in farm inside of the barrier cities. Other than that, everything has become extinct. Rather than progressing, humans have been restricted on technological development after the L.O.P was put into place.
Barrier cities (to give you an idea of what kind of place you live in) would compare to large downtown cities or, depending on how well you can use your imagination, a very run-down New York. Cities no longer keep their old name (like Las Angeles) but may have been changed to something simple like New Las Angeles. There are a few exceptions where cities have been built from scratch, rather than by preserving ruins, some of those cities are Abudies, Chulak, and Elcore.
Economy is low. Most of the cities are in a state of depression, but that is the norm. Rich mansions and such can't be afforded by anyone, so construction workers don't even bother making them. Food supply isn't as great as it used to be. Most food consists of bread and corn.
Clothes is just about the same as it is now, although material like velvet and fancy things along those lines aren't available anymore.
Generally, people walk for transportation unless they are in the military, then they have access to the few remaining trucks or airships. Occasionally, you will see someone walk by on a horse.
Houses are all crammed tightly together, small, apartment like places so that the barrier cities can hold as many people as possible. There are many seen on the streets though because they can't afford a house or find a job. ((Keep in mind, without a large amount of food, and the fact that transportation is restricted, that gets rid of a lot of jobs))
Schools really don't exist much anymore. A parent or guardian teaches the child everything they need to know in life, and that is just about it. That, and what they need to know to follow in their parent's footsteps. The most common knowledge that a child first learns is to stay in the city. Barrier cities are scattered very far away from each other, so if you leave, your chances of surviving are slim to none.
Most of the robots were wiped out on North America, sunk beneath the ocean waves, although few still can be found in old military sites where weapon droids were used, so such places are avoided.
The weather is a lot different then it used to be. It is often hot and humid in the summer (much the same) although it never seems to rain, and the sun never seems to shine. It was believed that people who existed before the Omega Crisis had polluted the air, creating a dense cloud above composed not of water molecules but of the different chemicals that have been released into the air. Fall is a short three week period in which the temperature drastically drops and becomes very cold for the winter.
Winter is extremely cold, much colder than it used to be because the clouds block the sunlight. During the winter, not even military forces venture out of barrier cities because it is often below freezing. It is still very cold in barrier cities, but they can normally keep the temperature above 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
There are now only three continents. When North America sank, the water levels rose enough that Europe and Australia were engulfed in water. During low tide, a small portion of Australia can be ventured upon, which scientists and explorers occasionally do to see what resources they can find and anything else of interest. Antarctica was destroyed when the chemical cloud formed, raising the temperature enough for a long period of time to melt Antarctica. During the colder winters, some of it eventually reforms, only to melt again during the summer.
