Prologue
(Humanity’s Diary)
Human: A weak race that rely on their intelligence to keep them alive. Through the years, our intelligence has not only become a danger to ourselves, but to the entire planet in which we live. Our intelligence has lead to the invention of robots that have their own ability to think and act like we do. For some time, the use of robots had created a near paradise for us. We didn’t have to work or fight; they did all of these things for us. However, one robot decided it didn’t want to take orders from us, nor did it have to. Soon, one became many. Our intelligence had created the very thing that would nearly destroy us. A war began between the robots and us, and we were nearly powerless against them. They were superior to us in every way. Our greatest weapons had turned against us leaving us to do nothing other than run. Then we invented Omega, our last chance. A robot that did not have a mind of its own, but rather controlled by a child. Some of us believed that giving absolute power to a child was obscure, that the child would use the machine as its play-toy. Others, like me, saw this as near fail-safe way to ensure that we would not lose the control of the machine if it was bonded to another. With the child’s aid, we had put a dent in the robots population. Twice we have used Omega, and twice have we won battles. The robots began to see that it was Omega that was keeping us alive, and from extinction. They attacked our base and Omega with it. Fortunately, they were not aware that all they would have had to do to rid of the colossus was destroy the child that controlled it.
Omega took several million dollars worth of damage and would take years to repair. For the time being, we humans had learned how to use life energy as a power source. Some of us believe that this was wrong, that we were stealing from the planet. I agreed, but, to keep us alive, it would be necessary. We used the energy to create large barriers around the remaining cities, which now mostly were on the continent Asia. The barrier was composed of life energy and a wave pattern that would cause any machine who crossed it to immediately shut down if they did not possess an immune chip, something we had invented for our vehicles. It worked, but severely limited our freedom. It was our sanctuary as well as our prison. We could not leave the dome for fear of being attacked. All of us eagerly awaited the return of Omega.
Three years have passed, and finally our work has paid off. Omega has been repaired and we now wait to strike the largest horde of robots that we have encountered. They were nearly in the center of North America. Any humans that were capable of fighting had entered the last military force for this final attack. If we didn’t win this battle, then we would lose everything. The machines had taken Omega down once, and that was without the knowledge of the child. If they knew about him, then all hope would be lost.
The fight of our life began only a few short days after we had gathered. Everyone knew that there was a chance that none of us would make it out alive and were prepared for death, willing to make such an extreme sacrifice if it meant saving the human race. And to no surprise, we were destroyed. But it isn’t just as simple as that. Not only did the war destroy us, but it destroyed the robots too. We all died, and it was neither the robots or the humans who had done it. Omega had been called out in that war, as anyone could have expected. The child somewhere beneath Omega’s armor, controlling it to fight for us. The battle itself began just as it was mean to. Human versus robots with the exception of Omega. The battle had gone on for about a half of an hour before Omega was given the order to use the Alpha Cannon, his most valuable asset. We had all gathered behind it, or at least as much as we could while in the middle of a battle. With its massive size, the colossus would be capable of hitting the army dead-centered, which meant anyone who didn’t want to be included in the explosion would need to get very far away or behind it. The only negative consequence of the Alpha Cannon was how long it took to charge. It would take Omega approximately twenty minutes to gather the energy needed for the attack. This process could be interrupted by a critical hit to him.
Fighting the machines while trying to stay behind Omega was difficult. Some of us didn’t even stay, but joined the fight, willing to give their lives to allow the attack to be completed. Twenty-three minutes had passed, and still the blast had not been fired. Some of the higher ranked officials had tried to contact the child within the colossus, but she didn’t respond. Thirty-three minutes had passed; finally something had changed. The cannon still had not launched. Energy was still being absorbed by it, and now it was absorbing more energy than was safe. It was now not only absorbing life energy, but it began absorbing energy from any near by machines. Two large army ships that had been hovering above Omega had now become inactive and were falling from the sky. All machines within thirty feet of the machine had lost all power, and still the colossus continued to absorb energy. The last thing we remembered seeing was a bright light, the release of the Alpha Cannon.
It has been thirty-two years sense, what we had gave the title to, the Robot Human War. The human race lies on the borders of extinction after what was believed to be Omega’s overload. Thanks to the war, now only three continents remain for the humans to live on. North America, the battle grounds for the Robot Human War, was taken by the sea. The blast had damaged the center of the continent, causing an unbalance in the continent’s make-up. It has caused the earth around it to go completely berserk. This caused numerous volcano eruptions, dozens of earth quakes, and all in all it caused the climate to go wack. This continued until there was nothing left. Then the sea took it. This was only the first of the many terrors Omega had caused. The severe climate change had caused Antarctica to slowly melt. The sea levels had already rose from the destruction of North America, and now that Antarctica had melted, the sea became even great. Soon, Europe and Australia were also taken by the strength of the sea. Now, all the remains are South America, Asia, and Africa, damaged by the wrath of the sea, but strong enough to support human life. The sea still waits to take them as well, becoming a threat to humanity as the years slowly pass.
Robots are no longer a massive threat to the human population. It is true, we still can not leave our cities without being attacked, but if we remain in our territory they will remain in theirs. The biggest threat to us now is ourselves. It is believed that the gods are punishing us for stealing from the earth. People have been seen doing things that are humanly impossible. Demons have entered these people, sometimes influencing the person to do what is unjust, the other times the demons would take control of the human body themselves. The demons now live off of us humans. They enter the human body and never leave.
After several sightings of these demon-possessed humans, the military began warning people of the harm these possessed people would soon inflict. They told us that if we continued to let them walk among us, that they would try to obliterate us, just like the robots had. These messages meant nothing to anyone until one of these people used their demon to strike a city. This convinced us that they should be destroyed, that they were an abomination to humanity. Three more attacks from the infected humans. One in Elcore and two in Abudies. In an attempt to stop these attacks, the military started training their elite soldiers to specifically fight against the infected humans. We called them Reapers, the Executioners of Demons. For the longest time, the Reapers had destroyed any Infected, as we slowly came to call them, mercilessly until we hears of an organization known only as Raven. They proposed that the Infecteds weren’t demons at all, but humans who had accumulated ancient spirits at birth. The thought of comparing them to us disgusted everyone. They were nothing more than puppets to the demon within them. The Raven’s resistance seemed to disappear after that, along with both its leader and its founder, Grovyle Endurumn, until the robots infiltrate Chulak.
A large unit of thirty robots had struck Chulak when someone had cut the energy absorber from the barrier. Three Infecteds had wiped out the robots in a few short minutes, before the machines had a chance to hurt anyone. We knew that they were Ravens because the three Infecteds all had a black bandana with a picture of a red raven tied around their arm. This started a political battle against Ravens and the Reapers. Most still sided with the Reapers but, never-the-less, the Ravens began to grow tremendously, mostly with recruits from Chulak. So now, not only is the planet threatened by the Infecteds, but it is also caught in the middle of a political war between two very powerful organizations.
